Debbie Dunphy

debbie_dunphy_photoDebbie was introduced to equestrian drill in 2000 while living in Olympia, Washington. There she rode with two drill teams, CC Riders Ladies Mounted Drill Team and R Troop, a co-ed drill team. After moving to Michigan, Debbie continued to ride and promote drill and became a competitive drill team judge.

In 2004 she founded and was Captain and Drill Master of Cowgirl Express Rodeo Drill Team, an Ohio-based team that in two years went on to capture the USEDC National Drill Team Championship. Debbie has performed and competed throughout the United States and in Canada as a member/captain of several drill teams. In 2008 she formed the Mid America Cowgirls Rodeo Drill Team and serves as Captain and Drill Master of this award-winning, Michigan-based team. In 2017, the Cowgirls were honored as one of only 40 units selected from more than 3000 applications to participate in the 58th Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC. Her team is now a regular featured performer at the new Michiana Event Center in Shipshewana, Indiana.

Debbie has judged numerous competitions throughout the United States including the Grand National Rodeo Drill Team Competition, Western States Equestrian Drill Team Association Championship, Pacific Northwest Drill Team Association Championship, Washington Ladies Riding Club Association State Championship, USEDC National Championship, Reno Rodeo Drill Team Competition, Georgia Horse Council Drill Competition, Florida State Fair Drill Competition, Northern Kentucky Horse Network Drill Competition, Bluegrass Bash Drill Competition, SEMDTA State and Regional Drill Competitions and many others. She has served as board member of the United States Equestrian Drill Association.

In addition to judging, Debbie conducts equestrian drill team clinics and drill team judging clinics. In 2004 Debbie and her Arabian, Sur Golden Pride, were featured in the Arabian Horse Magazine for their equestrian drill team accomplishments. Debbie is married and lives in Three Oaks, Michigan. She is a flight attendant for American Airlines.
